How will the scheme work?
If a family uses 100 units of electricity in a month, then they will have to pay Rs.100 as electricity charges. Whereas if the family uses 150 units of electricity in a month, the electricity charges will increase up to Rs. 384. People who use 150 units of electricity will not be able to avail the benefits of the scheme.
If a family is spending more than 100 units of electricity, then they will have to pay the regular electricity charges. The scheme will cost the state government around Rs. 2,581 crores. MP Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana scheme will be renamed as Atal Grah Jyoti Yojana scheme.

Feature of the scheme
The main objective of the scheme is to provide monetary assistance to the people of the state who belong to the economically backward category.
The scheme is launched by the state government of Madhya Pradesh.
MP Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana, if a family uses 100 units of electricity, then they will have to pay Rs 100. But if the units increased by more than 100 units then they will have to pay the normal electricity charges.

Charge before the final plan
The electricity charges before the scheme were very high, such that it was pretty expensive for common people to pay such high electricity charges. Before the scheme, if a family uses 100 units of electricity, they will have to pay Rs.634 as electricity charges in the state. For the consumption of 150 units, people had to pay Rs. 918 as electricity charges.
Under MP Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana scheme, the state government of Madhya Pradesh will provide a subsidy of Rs. 534 to the people of the state for 100 units of electricity consumption. The bill for MP Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana will come in a different color than the regular bill.
Changes in the scheme and the final plan
Another scheme launched by the Madhya Pradesh government for the benefit of their citizens is the Sambhal scheme. Under the Sambhal scheme, the state government will provide electricity to laborers of the state at Rs 200 per month. The scheme has been discontinued by the state government after the introduction of MP Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana. in the Sambhal scheme, workers who consumed electricity up to 1000 units could pay Rs. 200 electricity charges.

Benefits of the scheme
The benefits of the scheme are as under-
The benefit of MP Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana will be given to all the sections of society. Anyone who spends 100 units of electricity or less will be able to get the benefit of the scheme. If the consumption of electricity increases by more than 100 units, then the rates will be normal.
The state government has specified an eligibility unit for electricity consumption. If a family consumes electricity within the eligibility unit, then they will have to pay Rs. 100. The electricity will be subsidized if the consumption is within the eligibility unit.
To be eligible for the scheme, the monthly consumption for eligibility should be 135 units for 27 days and for eligibility for 35 days will be 175 units. If a family consumes more than 100 units of electricity but within the eligible units, then they will have to pay Rs. 100 for the first 100 units and for the remaining units, rates as per the electricity department will be imposed.

If a family consumes more than the eligible unit or 100 units, then they will not receive the benefits of the scheme. No benefit will be given for that month or overall consumption of electricity.

People who belong to scheduled caste or scheduled tribes will have to pay Rs 25 for 30 units of monthly consumption of electricity. If the family consumes electricity more than 30 units, then they will have to pay the normal electricity bill like other consumers. The subsidy for electricity consumption will be given to the distribution company.
The tariff order of Madhya Pradesh is planning to install 100% electricity meters in domestic houses of the consumers in urban areas. Any other subsidy provided to consumers will be removed after the launch of MP Indira Grah Jyoti Yojana.
